A ceilidh (pronounced “kay-lee” is a Gaelic word referring to an informal evening of Scottish traditional music. Islay Mist Ceilidh is an engaging group from northern New Hampshire that is fast gaining a following as the freshest, most enjoyable collection of enthusiasts of traditional Celtic music in New England. The group plays music from the Celtic world, including Irish and Scottish jigs, reels, strathspeys and airs, as well as tunes popularized in Cape Breton and other areas of the world where “kitchen parties” and ceilidhs” are a tradition. Islay Mist Ceilidh has performed at Weeks State Park, Lancaster Fair, Great North Woods Committee for the Arts shows, first Night North in St. Johnsbury among other places.
