The Constitution Brass Quintet will present a program of audience favorites in a wide range styles in the John Philip Sousa Band tradition. The quintet's extensive repertoire spans over four centuries of music composition, from the 16th Century to the present, literally "Renaissance to ragtime and beyond" and will feature Kyle Dubois as soloist playing The Carnival of Venice.
The CBQ was founded in 1983. The ensemble has appeared extensively throughout New England and has been a featured group at First Night Burlington since 1991. Gordon MacFarland, former Executive Director of First Night Burlington, says they “combine skilled artistry, great musical selection and stellar stage presence.”
In 1994, through a major grant from the Vermont Arts Endowment Fund, the ensemble commissioned internationally acclaimed Vermont composer Gwyneth Walker to create Shaker Tunes for Brass Quintet. Gwyneth Walkers says of the group: “These fine musicians understand the value of entertaining their audiences. Their concerts are well crafted, well played and, quite simply, a lot of fun.”
