Chaise Lounge performs a blend of music that sounds like it was recorded at Capitol Recording Studios in 1962 and somehow found its way to today’s pop charts. You might call it “Early Stereo.” Or perhaps Lounge with a capital “L.” Or maybe just plain enjoyable. It is the combination of five of the Washington area’s top jazz musicians playing sparkling arrangements of standards and original tunes and featuring the soft, luminous vocals of Marilyn Older. Her voice is truly an American Original. An evening spent with her is an evening spent in the warm, inviting glow of one of the most wonderful voices singing in America right now.

Genre: Country with a sneer, a bite, and no apologies.

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers is a country band with a sneer, a bite, and no apologies. Shook's original songs take on relationships gone wrong, bad decisions, cruel ironies, and excessive alcohol consumption for damn good reasons. Songs with self-explanatory self-deprecation, "Fuck Up", tangled in with a portrayal of a doomed relationship dripping with sarcasm,"The Nail", are bastioned by the subtleties of a bar patron considering taking a chance on a stranger in title track, "Sidelong".

When Shook's first band, Sarah Shook & The Devil, broke up after a solid three year plus run, Shook and her guitarist, Eric Peterson, continued to meet, practice, and plan. In late 2013 they put together brief stint called The Dirty Hands which ended after a handful of shows. The project they were looking for soon arrived with the addition of former Two Dollar Pistols' frontman, John Howie Jr., as drummer.

With the much welcomed addition of Aaron Oliva on upright bass and Phil Sullivan on pedal steel, this outlaw country band/ machine that is Sarah Shook & the Disarmers is hittin' the ground running in 2017. Check out our tour dates, holler at us on the social media stuff, and we'll see ya on the road. #letsparty

Genre: Psychadelic rat rock freak funk
Home Base: Brooklyn, NY

Evolfo is the sound that breaks through the fuzz on the low end of your radio dial and echoes out the back door of a pink neon lit bar. Mainstays of New York City’s clubs and DIY spaces, as well as the finest basement venues coast to coast, Evolfo has cut adventurous tracks through the U.S., gaining initiates and devotees every time they cram onto a stage and deliver their raucous live show. The sound is a house shaking mix of garage rock, psych soul, spiritual funk and ecstatic freakout. Like the faithful crate-diggers who have come before them, Evolfo mined the past for sounds and grooves that history left on the shelf. When they breathe their smoke into these forms, it produces something new.

Genre: Southern Garage Rock
Home Base: Shreveport, Louisiana

Seratones’s music, created with collaborative songwriting and spontaneous creativity, is certainly their own, due perhaps in part to Shreveport’s unique sonic geography. The city sits at a nexus roughly equidistant from Memphis soul, Mississippi Delta Blues, and New Orleans jazz, with Texas swing located just over the nearby state border. The band’s sound draws from those touch points and more, ranging from Black Sabbath’s Paranoid to Kind of Blue. They’ll happily connect the dots between Ornette Coleman and Jello Biafra.

Whether you call it Celtic-rock, kilt-rock, bagpipe rock, Scottish-rock or even Sham-rock, Prydein delivers a high-energy performance loved by young and old. A typical Prydein audience is a pretty even mix of folks; elementary school kids to those disenchanted youth with hair the color of toxic waste and holes in their body that they weren't born with standing next to elderly couples holding up cell phones in the air so that their middle-aged children can hear the amazing sound coming from a rock band with bagpipes. Call it what you will.....they call it fun.
