EPIC Music, a new community music program inspired by the worldwide El Sistema program, will kick off this summer with a two week summer sampler. Students entering grades 1-5 will learn the fundamentals of playing violin in an ensemble. Students with some string experience as well as students with no musical experience at all are welcome to participate. EPIC Music Camp is free, and all instruction, instruments, snacks and lunch are provided free of charge.

Barnet resident Jason Bergman is a musician and educator. He is director of the St. Johnsbury Academy string program and an adjunct professor at Lyndon State College conducting the NEK Community Orchestra. His teachers include: Olga Bloom, Sharon Yamada and his four violinist sisters. As a fiddler and vocalist he has performed worldwide and is a member of the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra. He enjoys a thriving teaching studio at his home, assisted by his cat Socrates.
Lynn Murphy, violin and viola, has taught and played professionally in the Central Pennsylvania area for over 20 years, and served for many years on the Board of the Central Pennsylvania Suzuki Association. Students and parents enrolling in her private teaching studio joined a collaborative learning community that included weekly group classes, parent and student workshops, and frequent forays into the community to perform recitals. Now a full-time School Psychologist, she continues to freelance throughout the region, and to perform with the York Symphony Orchestra, and the Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra.
